DID YOU KNOW?
- Four great railroads ran through Trinidad in the early 1900’s, including the main line of the Santa Fe between Chicago and the West Coast .
- There are over 80 historic buildings in Trinidad more than any other town in the state.
- Famous old buildings are the Opera House on Main St. and the West Theatre. The theatre still shows movies.
- Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday hung out in Trinidad at the Columbian Hotel after the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral.
- The Tarabino Inn, the old house in the story, is a Bed and Breakfast today. It is a certified historic structure, built in 1904.
- The Tarabino family owned “The Famous” department store on Main St., one of the biggest in Colorado in the early 1900’s.
- “Alley A” in Trinidad was a coal chute that ran over Main St. Kids used it to sneak rides on the coal cars.
